How it works

We’ve made our process simple, supportive, and designed to set you up for success.
First comes onboarding — we’ll take the time to understand your skills, preferences, and the type of work you’re looking for.

Next is verification, where we guide you through providing your credentials and compliance documents.

Don’t worry if you don’t have everything ready right now — we can help you get them sorted along the way.

Once that’s complete, we move on to matching — connecting you with roles that suit your expertise, lifestyle, and goals.

From your first placement to every role after, we’re here to provide ongoing support, clear communication, and a personal touch that makes the whole journey stress-free.

Quick Registration
(2 Minutes)

Start by submitting a simple form with:

-Your phone number

-Your email

-Your AHPRA number

No documents or sensitive information needed at this stage. Once you register, our team begins the preliminary review.

Initial Review &
Reference Checks

Our team verifies your AHPRA registration status and conducts confidential reference checks with your nominated referees.

You don't need to do anything here — we'll contact you once the verification is complete.

Access to Your Doctor Dashboard (Preferences & Availability)

Once cleared, you receive access to our Doctor Dashboard where you can enter:

  • Your availability (dates, preferred shift patterns)

  • Preferred locations and facilities

  • Preferred hospital types (metro, regional, rural)

  • Shift types (days, evenings, nights, weekends)

  • Clinical specialties and experience level

  • Travel preferences and accommodation needs

This helps us match you with suitable opportunities immediately. Note: You're not required to upload credentialing documents yet — we'll guide you through that process after our introductory call.

Introductory Call With Your Dedicated Consultant

We'll reach out to schedule a call and discuss:

  • Your clinical experience and qualifications

  • Career goals and lifestyle preferences

  • Preferred locations and shift patterns

  • Any specific requirements or questions

  • How we work and what you can expect from us

  • Next steps in the credentialing process

This conversation ensures we understand you — not just your CV — and can match you with placements that truly suit your goals.

Professional References & CV

After an introductory call, we'll ask you to provide:

Professional References

  • Contact details for 3 professional referees

  • These should be consultants, department heads, or senior medical colleagues

  • People who can speak to your clinical competence and professionalism

Current CV

  • Your up-to-date curriculum vitae

  • Helps us understand your experience and qualifications

We'll then conduct confidential reference checks with your nominated referees. This typically takes 3-7 days depending on referee response times.

Full Credentialing Process

After reference checks, you gain full access to your Gold Locum Credentialing Portal. Here, you'll complete all required documentation for placements:

Identity & Qualifications

  • 100 Points of ID verification

  • Medical degree and specialist qualifications

  • Current AHPRA registration certificate

Background Checks

  • National Police Check (and international checks if trained overseas)

  • Working With Children Check (NSW)

Clinical Documentation

  • Current immunisation records

  • Professional indemnity insurance (meeting NSW Health standards)

  • Current CPR and mandatory training certificates

  • Medicare prescriber numbers

Everything is structured, easy to follow, and supported by your dedicated consultant if you need help. Most doctors complete credentialing within 5-10 business days, depending on document availability.

Pre-Placement Orientation & Shift Matching

Once your credentialing is complete and approved:

  • We offer placements that match your preferences

  • You review and accept (or decline) shifts

Your consultant remains your point of contact throughout every placement for any questions, concerns, or support you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need full documentation to register? No — you can start with just your contact details and AHPRA number. We only request sensitive documents after we've verified your registration and completed reference checks.

When will I get access to the dashboard? You'll receive access to enter your preferences after our initial AHPRA verification (Step 2). Full credentialing portal access is given after your introductory call, CV submission, and satisfactory reference checks (Steps 4-6).

When do you check my references? After the introductory call (Step 4), we'll ask you to provide contact details for 3 professional referees. We'll then reach out to them confidentially to verify your clinical competence and professionalism. This typically takes 3-7 days.

Do you work with IMGs (International Medical Graduates)? Yes — as long as you have current AHPRA registration. You may need to provide international police checks depending on your training location.

How long does credentialing take? Most doctors complete credentialing within 5-10 business days after Step 5 (CV and references), depending on how quickly documents are uploaded and verified. The full process from registration to roster-ready typically takes 2-4 weeks total. We guide you through every step.

What insurance do I need? You need professional indemnity insurance that meets NSW Health requirements. We can advise on specific coverage levels and help you understand what's needed.

Does Gold Locum provide professional indemnity insurance? Doctors must maintain their own professional indemnity insurance. We verify coverage meets NSW Health standards before any placement.

Can I work while my credentialing is being completed? No — you must complete full credentialing and receive facility-specific approval before commencing any shifts. This ensures patient safety.

What if I have questions during a placement? Your dedicated consultant is available throughout every placement. You'll also receive emergency contact information during your pre-placement orientation.

How does payroll work? Payment arrangements vary by facility and employment type. We'll clarify the specific arrangements for each placement before you accept.
